Jonathans personal car is a 1985 Reliant Scimitar SS1. Jonathan was keen to improve the standard exhaust system in preparation for performance modifications.
We hand made a full stainless steel exhaust system. This was a particular challenge as the vehicle normally has a very narrow gap for the existing exhaust which meant very careful measurement was required. We used oval tubing to maintain ground clearance and the whole system was TIG welded and used V band clamps to facilitate easy removal. We had to customise a rear silencer to fit.
A bigger bore stainless exhaust system was required
The chosen silencer had to be modified to fit
New tail pipes were added
We had to get creative to make the downpipe!
The downpipe required several trial fits
The old exhaust flange was attached with the TIG welder
Custom back box complete

Here you can see how little space there was to work with
Oval tubing used for centre section to preserve ground clearance
Cut out rear valance to accommodate new pipes
